Greece Rescues 2500 Migrants at Sea in Past 3 Days

Nearly 2500 migrants were rescued by Greece’s coast guard in dozens of search and rescues that stretched from Friday morning to Monday morning. Greece has been overwhelmed by migrants this year as thousands flee their countries.

Many migrants seeking refuge in Europe come from the Middle East, Africa, and Asia in attempts to escape war and poverty. The migrants Greece has received usually cross the northern border with Macedonia to look for more thriving European countries.

More than 200,000 migrants have reached Greece- many from Syria and Afghanistan. Authorities continue to struggle in managing the record number of migrants that have reached the islands.
